HVAC Air Balancing in Boise & the Treasure Valley

Hot and cold rooms are usually an airflow problem. Our testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) service measures the air coming out of every register and tunes the system until it delivers what the design calls for.

What air balancing involves

  • Measure supply airflow at each register and total system airflow
  • Check static pressure across the blower, coil and filter
  • Adjust balancing dampers and blower speed to match design airflows
  • Document before-and-after readings in a balance report

When there's a Manual D design, we balance to it. When there isn't, we balance to room loads and report on any rooms that can't reach their target because of duct sizing or restrictions.

Signs your home or building needs balancing

  • Upstairs or bonus rooms that are always too hot in summer
  • Rooms that never warm up in winter
  • Whistling registers or doors that slam when the system starts
  • High energy bills from a system that runs constantly

Credentialed balancing

Our team includes an IDABO residential air balancer and an HVAC journeyman, so balance reports are completed by people who understand how the system was meant to work, not just how to read a flow hood.

Air Balancing (TAB) FAQs

How long does air balancing take?

A typical single-family home can usually be tested and balanced in one visit. Larger homes and multi-system buildings take longer; we'll give you an estimate when you call.

Can balancing fix a room that's always hot?

Often, yes — by redirecting air to where it's needed. If the duct to that room is too small or damaged, the balance report will show it so you know exactly what to fix.
